Job summary

Axle is a bioscience and information technology company focused on translational research, biomedical informatics, and data science. The Research Data Manager will build and maintain the data infrastructure for the SOM Center, including LIMS, Invenio, and metadata pipelines, aligning with NIH data management and sharing rules.

The role blends hands-on software development with data stewardship, using cloud-native tools and AI/ML to improve data discoverability and usability.

Qualifications

• Data integration with LIMS and external data sources.
• Data wrangling to normalize heterogeneous data formats.
• Repository and document management using Invenio/InvenioRDM.
• Database design for experimental metadata and datasets.
• AI/ML-assisted data discovery and workflow enhancements.
• Platform and cloud engineering with containerized deployments.
• Evaluate data management tools and prepare technical assessments.
• Training staff and writing SOPs.

Responsibilities

• Data integration: connect instruments, analysis pipelines, and data sources to the LIMS; build automated ingestion with validation and logging.
• Data wrangling: write scripts to convert, normalize, and harmonize formats into standardized schemas.
• Manage repositories and documents (Invenio); metadata, identifiers, access controls.
• Design and maintain databases for experimental metadata; migrations, indexing, backups.
• Incorporate ML/AI into data workflows and UIs (semantic search, auto-annotation).
• Develop and deploy software on cloud or Kubernetes; CI/CD and IaC.
