Position

The Auburn University RFID Laboratory, affiliated with multiple colleges on campus, invites applications for the role of Research & Compliance Program Engineer. This is a 12-month, non-tenure track position.

About the RFID Lab

The Auburn University RFID Lab is a leader in RFID research and technology application. It collaborates with partners to develop specialized technologies that enhance RFID and serialized identification sensor capabilities, improve data capture systems across various fields, and promote the business case and value of RFID adoption in food operations and supply chains. The Lab features simulated environments including factories, warehouses, distribution centers, retail outlets, and food formats such as mall apparel and high-end fashion boutiques. It actively researches engineering, food safety, logistics, and wireless technologies, engaging students and faculty in testing, intellectual property development, and market growth initiatives. Responsibilities

The primary focus of this role is to support programmatic and research operations within the RFID Lab. Responsibilities include:

  1. Managing daily operations: Oversee the field team, ensure schedule adherence, maintain records, and manage experiment design and planning.
  2. Data analysis: Collect and analyze RFID, EPC, and UPC data, generate reports, and ensure data quality for actionable insights.
  3. Stakeholder collaboration: Identify compliance improvement areas, assess practices, and develop tailored solutions, providing ongoing support.
  4. Operational metrics: Assist in creating KPIs and metrics to improve processes, reduce costs, and enhance efficiency.
  5. Sponsored projects and outreach: Support grant management, external partnerships, and university fundraising events.
  6. Research development: Generate new project ideas, oversee faculty and industry research, and assist in preparing demonstrations and presentations.
  7. Student team oversight: Manage student schedules, training, data collection, RFID tagging, and inventory audits.
  8. Travel: May be required for field audits, events, and research activities.
  9. Additional duties: May include training, task assignment, and performance reviews of staff.
