Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health seeks an experienced laboratory specialist to work under the principal investigator, performing a wide range of routine and specialized tests using molecular, cell biology and biochemistry techniques. You will develop modifications, troubleshoot, and analyze results with advanced knowledge.

Responsibilities include serving as a technical lead for a research project, guiding other labs, designing protocols, and contributing to manuscripts or grants.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences or related field required.
• Master's degree preferred.
• 3-5 years related work experience required.
• Bachelor's degree and four years experience, or a Master's degree and two years experience.
• Advanced skills with Microsoft applications including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Access and other web-based applications.
• May produce complex documents, perform analysis and maintain databases.

Responsibilities

• Functions as a principal technical specialist for a research laboratory or for a specific research project.
• Acts as internal consultant and resource to other labs.
• Performs and devises specialized tests and procedures, troubleshooting problems in results.
• Conducts broad range of experiments involving advanced technology.
• Participates in design of experimental protocols to achieve project objectives.
• May prioritize work and assign to junior staff.
• May instruct lab techniques to students and other personnel.
• May be involved in complex data analysis and interpretation of results.
• Collaborates with supervisor in writing and editing materials for publication.
• May assist in preparing manuscripts and grant sections such as Materials and Methods.
• May present papers at conferences and society meetings.
• Attends conferences and courses to stay current with developments and apply them where relevant.
