Job summary

University of Illinois Chicago in Chicago, IL is seeking a Visiting Research Associate II to conduct participant screenings and obtain informed consent, and to implement data collection protocols via REDCap. The role includes recruitment across multiple avenues and data handling within the Department of Medicine.

The position supports IRB submissions and staff training, with duties spanning participant engagement, data management, and study coordination at UIC.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in community health, public health, kinesiology, other health or social sciences, or related field required. Advanced degree preferred.
• A minimum of one year experience working on a research study.
• Knowledge of research concepts, practices and procedures.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks. Strong interpersonal and customer service skills. Requires excellent communication, organization, and presentation skills.
• Strong computer skills are required. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other related software.
• Knowledge of research protocols, ethics and regulatory procedures (IRB, informed consent, data safety and monitoring plans).

Responsibilities

• Perform surveys, interviews, observations or uses other methods according to established research protocols.
• Collect, process and analyze data. Summarize research and test results.
• Coordinate the ordering, inventory and maintenance of equipment, instruments and data collection and analysis tools.
• Prepare and contribute statistical data and pertinent information for papers, grants and other documents.
• Complete required documentation for regulatory agencies.
• Assist with recruitment of participants across multiple avenues, including direct and indirect, virtual and in-person methods.
• Assist in training new staff in recruiting, tracking, and assessing participants for enrollment and follow-up; maintaining communication with participants across various media.
• Assist with IRB submissions and maintenance of UIC IRB approvals.
• Assist with participant retention activities and processing participant incentives and transportation reimbursement.
