Position Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated Associate Scientist to support purification process development during pivotal and commercial development phases. This role focuses on high-throughput purification (HTP) of upstream and cell culture samples, supporting downstream purification characterization studies, and developing and optimizing automated purification assays using platforms such as Tecan and Hamilton.

The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on laboratory experience, expertise in high-throughput purification methods, and the ability to develop, troubleshoot, and optimize automated laboratory workflows.

Key Responsibilities
High-Throughput Purification & Automation
  • Execute high-throughput purification workflows for upstream and cell culture samples to support process characterization.
  • Operate, optimize, and maintain automated liquid handling systems, including Hamilton and Tecan platforms.
  • Develop, qualify, and refine high-throughput purification assays and microscale purification methods.
  • Collaborate with upstream teams to ensure timely sample processing and data delivery.
Purification Process Development
  • Design and execute purification process development and characterization experiments.
  • Conduct bench-scale purification studies using chromatography, filtration, and microscale purification systems.
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret experimental data while maintaining data integrity.
  • Prepare and maintain high-quality experimental protocols, reports, and electronic laboratory notebook (ELN) documentation.
Technical Excellence & Collaboration
  • Support the implementation of new purification technologies, instrumentation, and platform enhancements.
  • Maintain laboratory instrumentation readiness and identify opportunities to improve purification workflows.
  • Collaborate with upstream, downstream, and cross-functional teams on process development and characterization initiatives.
Required Qualifications & Experience
  • M.S. with 2+ years or B.S. with 4+ years of relevant industry experience in Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, Bioengineering, or a related discipline.
  • Hands-on experience developing and executing high-throughput purification assays.
  • Experience with automated liquid handling systems, such as Tecan and Hamilton.
  • Familiarity with microscale chromatography and purification platforms.
  • Experience with chromatography systems, such as AKTA and plate-based chromatography, as well as filtration and other standard downstream processing techniques.
