Job Description
We are seeking a motivated Associate Scientist to support purification process development and characterization during pivotal and commercial development phases. This role focuses on high-throughput purification (HTP) of upstream and cell culture samples, microscale purification, and downstream process characterization. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with automated liquid handling platforms, such as Tecan and Hamilton, chromatography, and assay development, with the ability to optimize and troubleshoot automated purification workflows.
Key Responsibilities
High-Throughput Purification & Automation
- Execute high-throughput purification workflows for upstream and cell culture samples to support process development and characterization.
- Operate, optimize, and maintain automated liquid handling platforms, including Tecan and Hamilton systems.
Purification Process Development
- Design and execute purification process development and characterization experiments.
- Prepare protocols, technical reports, and electronic laboratory notebook (ELN) documentation while maintaining data integrity.
Technical Excellence & Collaboration
- Support the implementation and optimization of new purification technologies, instrumentation, and automated workflows.
- Collaborate with upstream, downstream, and cross-functional teams to support process development and characterization initiatives.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Education: Master’s degree with 2+ years or Bachelor’s degree with 4+ years of relevant industry experience in Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, Bioengineering, Biotechnology, or a related discipline.
- Hands-on experience developing and executing high-throughput purification assays and microscale purification workflows.
- Experience operating automated liquid handling systems, particularly Tecan and Hamilton platforms.
- Practical knowledge of chromatography systems, such as ÄKTA, plate-based chromatography, filtration, and downstream purification techniques.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting biologics purification process development and characterization.
- Familiarity with automated or high-throughput chromatography and purification platforms.
- Experience processing upstream cell culture samples and collaborating with upstream process development teams.
- Exposure to pivotal-stage or commercial biopharmaceutical development and associated quality expectations.
