Job summary

The Allen Institute in Seattle is seeking a Research Associate I in Molecular Genetics Scientific Operations to join the Genetic Tools Pipeline team. You will help generate and characterize novel viral vectors and transgenic mouse lines to target brain cell types with precision.

This onsite role emphasizes organization, documentation, and collaboration across internal teams and external partners. You will maintain SOPs, support data quality, manage resources, and communicate clearly to advance

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in life sciences, biology, neuroscience, or a related field.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook) and ability to learn new software quickly.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate Genetic Tools Pipeline data quality and metadata, including records across pipeline databases.
  • Perform bench-level laboratory support including sample preparation, processing, and storage per SOPs.
  • Maintain laboratory organization, inventory, and equipment compliance, coordinating with facilities, vendors, and admin.
  • Manage biological resource distribution and MTAs, depositions to external repositories, and reporting.
  • Create, maintain, and audit SOPs and process-tracking tools to support pipeline visibility and data integrity.
  • Communicate professionally across internal research and core teams, program management, and external partners; ensure timely follow-through.
  • Support recurring departmental operations and administrative functions as needed.
