Job summary

The Allen Institute is seeking a Research Associate I to join a multidisciplinary team focused on how the neuronal proteome shapes brain circuit function. The role contributes to scalable proteomics workflows and large-scale datasets in a collaborative environment.

Ideal candidates are highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of working onsite in Seattle with opportunities to develop new experimental workflows and advance brain science research.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in neuroscience, biology, biochemistry, molecular biology, chemistry or related field.
  • Experience or exposure to molecular biology, proteomics, mouse tissue processing, histology or related disciplines.
  • Strong organizational, communication and collaboration skills; detail-oriented and eager to learn.

Responsibilities

  • Perform tissue dissections and biochemical preparation of mouse brain samples for profiling and imaging.
  • Execute workflows for synapse isolation, sorting, and proteomic sample prep.
  • Conduct histology, fluorescence imaging, and tissue processing tasks.
  • Support molecular biology and viral vector preparation workflows.
  • Maintain accurate lab documentation and experimental records.
  • Assist in optimization, troubleshooting and quality control of workflows.
  • Coordinate with internal teams and core facilities to support data generation.
  • Present results and summarize progress within the team.
  • Follow SOPs, GLP and regulatory requirements.
