Job summary
The Allen Institute is seeking a Research Associate II to support the characterization of AAV vectors targeting brain cell types for functional analysis and manipulation. The role focuses on brain tissue processing, histology, mFISH/RNAscope, immunohistochemistry, and imaging across mouse, non-human primate, and human samples, with emphasis on NHP studies.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in neuroscience, biology, or related field.
- Minimum 2 years of relevant lab experience.
- Hands-on brain tissue processing including sectioning.
- Experience with histology and mFISH/RNAscope technique.
- Experience with tissue imaging and quantitative analysis.
Responsibilities
- Assist with brain tissue collection and processing.
- Plan and execute mFISH/RNAscope and IHC staining.
- Evaluate cell type specificity via fluorescence and image analysis.
- Apply quantitative approaches for labeling specificity (training).
- Generate data summaries in PowerPoint/Excel for team review.
- Present progress updates to the research community.
- Maintain detailed lab notebooks and records.
- Contribute to progress reports, publications, and grants.
