This is a 12-month Research Assistant Professor position that will involve some graduate virology teaching, mentoring laboratory technicians, junior post-doctoral fellows, graduate and undergraduate students (20%), and research (80%) in the laboratory of Dr. Shafiqul Chowdhury, Department of Pathobiological Sciences, School of Veterinary Medicine, LSU. The Research Assistant Professor will be required to submit grant proposals and seek 20-50% salary support.
Job Responsibilities:
Minimum Qualifications:
Ph. D. or DVM in related field and 5 years of post-doctoral experience in a research laboratory.
Preferred Qualifications:
Post-doctoral research experience in bovine herpesvirus and pseudorabies virus vectored vaccines, and vaccine efficacy studies in large animals. Relevant publications in peer-reviewed journals. Experience in molecular virology, emphasizing herpesviruses.
Special and Physical Qualifications:
Requires standing, sitting, walking, bending, reaching (above shoulder), reaching (below shoulder), vision (near sight), vision (far sight), climbing, crawling, twisting, pushing/pulling, grasping, squatting, and lifting less than 50 pounds.
