Position Summary:

The School of Nursing invites applications for the position assistant professor Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner option in the ACEN accredited Masters of Science in Nursing Program. Participation in teaching, student advising, & professional service expected. The position is full-time (12 month) non-tenure track position at the rank of assistant professor. This position will begin August 16, 2025.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Teaching
    • actively participates in development and evaluation of curriculum, course content, clinical experiences, and test construction
    • is responsible for didactic courses and/or clinical group size appropriate to area of clinical practice
    • plans and supervises clinical seminars
    • establishes effective coordinating relationships with co-workers and clinical agencies
    • continues education for professional growth
    • participates in academic advising and guidance of students
  • Service
    • maintains office hours as required by college (at least 5 virtual hours per week)
    • participates in the faculty organization and appropriate program , college, and university activities
    • serves on assigned program, college, and university committees
    • sponsors and promotes planned activities of students, program, college, and university as requested
    • contributes to the community through involvement in and/or consultation to health related organizations, board memberships, or professional presentations to the public
    • participates in planning for the continued growth and progress of the program through faculty and student recruitment and retention efforts
    • holds membership and participates in organizations that advance the profession of nursing and advanced practice nursing, such as the ANA, NACNS, or other professional organizations
  • Other duties as assigned

    Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

    Knowledge of curriculum design, strategies to promote student learning, assessment and evaluation of learning, evidence-based education principles, basic nursing skills and a commitment to life-long learning. Possesses interpersonal and communication skills necessary to teach as part of a faculty team.

    General Days/Hours:

    Monday - Friday, hours vary depending on teaching and/or clinical rotation assignments; faculty organization; and appropriate program, college and university activities.

    13-15 credit hour teaching workload
    Academic experience preferred
    2-3 years of clinical practice as AGACNP preferred

    Preferred Qualifications:
    Earned Doctorate or in progress within one year of hire
    Didactic teaching experience

    Minimum Qualifications:

    Licensure (or eligible) as Advanced Practice RN in Arkansas

    Current certification as an Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner option by a national certifying body

    Two (2) years of experience as an Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner
