Job summary

NEOMED's Department of Biomedical Sciences seeks a Research Assistant (M. Rosen Lab) to support experiments, data collection, and analyses under supervision. The role includes maintaining equipment, ensuring safety, and adhering to ethical standards in a collaborative university lab environment.

  • Bachelor's degree in any biomedical sciences related field or equivalent education and/or training.
  • Minimum 1 year research experience required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in setting up experiments and conducting research projects with precision and safety.
  • Follow safety protocols and ethical standards applicable to the research.
  • Prepare animals for procedures including anesthesia and sample collection when applicable.
  • Record and organize data, analyze results, and update lab notebooks and databases.
  • Maintain a clean, organized laboratory and report equipment issues promptly.

Research Assistant (M. Rosen Lab)

Summary: Under general supervision of the PrincipalInvestigator, assist in conducting experiments, collecting andanalyzing and interpreting data, maintaining laboratory andequipment, and ensuring compliance with safety and ethicalstandards.

Principal Functional Responsibilities:

ExperimentalAssistance and Safety: Collaborate with researchers to setup experiments and perform research projects. Execute experimentalprocedures with precision and attention to detail.Adhere to safetyprotocols and guidelines to maintain a secure work environment.Follow ethical standards and regulatory requirements applicable tothe research field. Prepare animals for various research protocolsincluding anesthesia, surgical procedures and samplecollection.

Data Collection and Analysis: Record and organizedata generated from experiments. Assist in the analysis ofexperimental results using appropriate software and tools.Summarize findings and contribute to the preparation of researchreports. Compile and update laboratory notebooks, databases, andelectronic records with the detailed records of the experimentalprocedures, observations and results.

Laboratory Maintenance: Maintain laboratory in aclean and orderly manner. Ensure the proper functioning ofequipment and promptly report any issues. Monitor and maintainlaboratory equipment used for animal care andexperimentation.

Other Duties: Perform other duties asassigned.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in any biomedical sciences related field orequivalent education and/or training.
  • Minimum 1 year research experience required
Preferred Qualifications

Physical Requirements: Ability to collect and analyzeexperimental data and handle animals when applicable. Must be ableto utilize applicable laboratory equipment necessary for the job,as well as a phone, computer and other office equipment.
