Job summary

NEOMED in Rootstown, OH is seeking a Research Technician to join the Biomedical Sciences lab under the direction of the Principal Investigator. You will assist in experiments, collect and analyze data, and help maintain laboratory equipment and records in a compliant environment.

This entry-level position involves working with mouse models under supervision, including handling, breeding, genotyping, administering treatments, collecting tissues, monitoring animal health, and maintaining

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent education and/or training.
  • No research experience required.
  • One year of experience in a laboratory environment preferred.

  • Follow safety protocols and regulatory requirements; ensure a secure work environment.

Summary

Under direction of the Principal Investigator, assist in conducting experiments, collecting and analyzing data, maintaining laboratory and equipment, and ensuring compliance with safety and ethical standards.

Principal Functional Responsibilities

Experimental Assistance and Safety: Collaborate with researchers to set up experiments and perform research projects. Execute experimental procedures with precision and attention to detail. Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a secure work environment. Follow ethical standards and regulatory requirements applicable to the research field.

Laboratory Maintenance: Maintain laboratory in a clean and orderly manner. Ensure the proper functioning of equipment and promptly report any issues.

Data Collection and Analysis: Record and organize data generated from experiments. Assist in the analysis of experimental results using appropriate software and tools. Summarize findings and contribute to the preparation of research reports. Compile and update laboratory notebooks, databases, and electronic records with the detailed records of the experimental procedures, observations and results.

Other Duties: Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent education and/or training.
  • No research experience required.
Preferred Qualifications

  • One year experience in a laboratory environment
Physical Requirements

Ability to collect and analyze experimental data which may include use of and handling experimental animals. Must be able to utilize applicable laboratory equipment necessary for the job, as well as a phone, computer and other office equipment.

This entry-level position will support laboratory research involving mouse models under the guidance and supervision of the principal investigator and experienced research personnel. Following appropriate training, responsibilities may include assisting with mouse handling, breeding colony maintenance, genotyping, administration of experimental treatments, collection of tissue samples, monitoring of animal health, and maintenance of accurate animal and experimental records. The employee will be expected to follow approved animal-use protocols, institutional policies, and all applicable animal welfare and research compliance requirements.

Starting Pay Rate Range: $13.98 – $14.50, commensurate with experience
