The Chanda Lab at Scripps Research is seeking a Research Assistant II to support antiviral drug and immune modulator discovery programs. You will execute key high-throughput assays, develop new in vitro tests, and maintain virus stocks and cell culture lines in a fast-paced team environment.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree in a relevant biology field and 3–5 years of experience; experience with viruses, cell-based and biochemical assays, and data analysis is highly valued.

Qualifikationen

• Bachelor’s degree in biology, biochemistry, microbiology, or related field.
• 3–5 years’ experience; master’s degree with 2+ years is acceptable.
• Experience with viruses and antiviral assays preferred.
• Experience with cell-based and biochemical assays (high-content imaging, luminescence, fluorescence, absorbance).
• Excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to troubleshoot and adapt in a fast-paced environment.

Aufgaben

• Perform human primary cell and cell line culture; prepare media.
• Develop in vitro assays for BSL2 viruses for drug discovery workflows.
• Conduct in vivo studies of viral infection to evaluate lead compounds.
• Execute high-throughput assays for screening campaigns.
• Data analysis and lab notebook documentation.
• Provide interpretation and troubleshooting of procedures; assist in designing experiments.
