Zusammenfassung

The Chanda Lab at Scripps Research is seeking a highly motivated Research Assistant II to support antiviral drug and immune modulator discovery programs. You will work in a team to execute high-throughput assays, develop new in vitro assays, and maintain virus stocks and cell culture lines.

Responsibilities include cell culture, assay development for BSL2 viruses, in vivo infection studies, data analysis, and potential guidance to department. Excellent communication skills are essential.

Qualifikationen

• Requires a bachelor’s degree in biology, biochemistry, microbiology, or related field.
• Requires 3-5 years’ experience. Candidates possessing a master’s degree, 2+ years’ experience required.
• Experience in working with viruses: stock generation, determining infectious titers, setting up in vitro antiviral assays are preferred.
• Experience with cell-based and biochemical assays using methods such as high-content imaging, luminescence, fluorescence, and absorbance are required.
• Experience with database interface and data analysis using Excel and Prism is preferred.

Aufgaben

• Perform human primary cell and cell line culture, preparation of media and reagents.
• Develop in vitro assays for BSL2-level viruses to enable drug discovery flowcharts.
• Conduct in vivo studies of viral infection to evaluate lead compounds.
• Execute high-throughput assays against for screening campaigns
• Data analysis and lab notebook documentation.
• Work under minimal supervision. Independently conducts a wide variety of standard laboratory techniques/procedures while using judgement when necessary to adapt standard methods and techniques.
