A leading university seeks a Research Assistant I to support the MSU Autism Research Lab. The role involves coordinating research activities, managing undergraduate assistants, and conducting community trainings. Ideal candidates will have a background in psychology or related fields, strong organizational skills, and experience in intervention research. This position is remote-friendly, allowing some duties to be performed off-site.
The MSU Autism Research Lab, directed by Brooke Ingersoll, PhD, is seeking to hire a Research Assistant I. The MSU Autism Lab is focused on the development, evaluation, and implementation of community-viable interventions for children with ASD and their families. The research assistant will be responsiblefor coordinating and conducting research, overseeing undergraduate research assistants, andcarrying out administrative duties. The MSU Autism Lab is a supportive and collaborativeenvironment.
Specific tasks include: 1) completing IRB revisions and renewals; 2) running lab meetings andassisting with data management; 3) training and supervising undergrad volunteers; 4) overseeingbudgets and assisting with writing annual reports; and 5) coordinating community trainings.Depending on interests and experience, tasks may also include assisting with assessments andprovider training.
Ability to work 40 hours per week. Hours are typically scheduled between 9am-5pm Monday through Friday but may be required to work outside these hours (evenings/weekends).
Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in Psychology, Social work, or other related science fields; one to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in standard laboratory procedures and safety requirements and performing analytical and research techniques in Clinical Psychology or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience; strong computer skills, including word processing; familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel and SPSS software.
Experience in intervention research, particularly with children with autism. Proven ability to manage and supervise undergraduate research assistants. Strong organizational and communication skills, including coordination with off-site collaborators. Proficiency in written and verbal communication. Ability to commit to a 40-hour workweek.
