Description
The Department of Mechanical and Automation Engineering is currently looking for a Research Assistant in the field of computer vision.
Applicants should have (i) a Bachelor’s degree or a Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Automation, Biomedical Engineering, or related disciplines; (ii) strong background in computer vision, image processing, and machine learning techniques, etc.; (iii) proficiency in programming languages such as Python, C++, and familiarity with deep learning frameworks like TensorFlow or PyTorch; (iv) strong problem-solving skills and project execution capability; and (v) self-motivation to work independently and co-operatively with other team members. Work experience with medical imaging modalities and image analysis tools will be advantageous.
The appointee will be responsible for (a) providing technical support for data annotation of medical images; (b) implementing computer vision algorithms for medical imaging tasks (e.g., segmentation, detection, and 3D reconstruction); (c) collaborating with medical robotics researchers to integrate vision systems for real-time image-guided surgery; and (d) conducting experiments and validating algorithms using medical datasets.
Appointment will initially be made on contract basis for one year, renewable subject to good performance and mutual agreement.
