Job Description Summary
A research specialist A/B is needed to carry out an array of basic laboratory techniques to study the role of microglia and the immune system in brain aging and neurodegenerative diseases, such as Alzheimer's disease. This work will also entail advanced sequencing techniques to measure transcriptomic and epigenetic changes in vitro and in vivo, cellular function assays with live microscopy and flow cytometry and biochemical assays. Job Description
Job Responsibilities
I seek an entry-level or near entry-level individual to carry out an array of basic laboratory techniques. Tasks will include human and mouse cell culture, DNA/RNA purification, PCR, mouse colony maintenance, and mouse tissue harvesting. Experience in molecular techniques and cell-based assays such as flow cytometry is desired. Additional responsibilities include placing orders for lab supplies, organizing lab spaces/keeping inventory, detailed and organized record keeping, writing, presenting research results to the PI, and implementing laboratory policies and procedures. This individual will also assist in pre-clinical drug studies (drug treatments and tumor harvest) using murine mouse models. This individual will also be responsible for general laboratory operation and management. Experience in molecular techniques and cell-based assays such as cell viability assays and flow cytometry is desired. Additional responsibilities include detailed and organized record keeping, writing, presenting research results to the laboratory director, and implementing laboratory policies and procedures.
Research Specialist B- in addition to the duties listed above, Research Specialist B will have extensive experience in flow cytometry and/or animal handling.
