Job summary

The Texas A&M University System Offices seeks an Animal Welfare Project Manager to direct programs advancing research animal welfare and excellence. You will develop training on 3Rs, NAMs, and human-relevant concepts while coordinating across system members to improve welfare practices.

Qualifications include a Doctoral degree in animal welfare and at least three years of related experience, with strong regulatory knowledge and travel willingness.

Qualifications

• Doctoral degree in animal welfare or a related field.
• Three years of related experience.
• Demonstrated activity in animal welfare through training, teaching, and/or publications.
• Knowledge of regulatory/accreditation expectations, data analysis, and experimental design.
• Strong organizational and analytical skills.
• Expertise in animal research oversight requirements.
• Ability to travel.
• Ability to multi-task and cooperatively support others.

Responsibilities

• Manage and direct projects and programs aimed at research animal welfare and research excellence, contributing to an overall strategic research infrastructure.
• Develop and deliver training content on animal welfare and related research concepts including, but not limited to, the 3Rs, advanced human-relevant technologies, and novel alternative methodologies (NAMs ).
• Proactively network across members and the broader research community to build awareness of research animal welfare; Assist members with establishing standard operating procedures and other activities that enhance research animal welfare.
• Consult with researchers on the 3Rs, human-relevant model systems, and novel alternative methodologies, providing support for investigator grants.
• Support member accreditation with AAALAC, International.
• Conduct related research, seeking state, federal, and other funding opportunities to advance research animal welfare.
• Promote the work by the Texas A&M University System members in the area of animal research and novel alternative methodologies.
• Other duties as assigned.
