Job summary

Quarles & Brady is seeking an experienced Research Analyst to join the Research & Knowledge Management department in supporting attorneys and business professionals with legal and business research. The role reports to the Director of Research & Knowledge Management and offers remote options across the U.S., with a Pacific Time work schedule.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s in Library/Information Science from an ALA-accredited school.
• 4+ years of law firm research services experience; practical legal experience a plus.
• Working knowledge of multiple areas of law.
• Experience researching case law, statutes, regulations, dockets and trial court filings, expert materials, analytics, verdicts and settlements.
• Proficiency with major legal, business, and financial research platforms (Westlaw Precision, Lexis+, Bloomberg Law, Practical Guidance, Practical Law, VitalLaw).
• Demonstrated ability to use AI-enabled research tools, including prompt development and validation against authoritative sources.
• Familiarity with time-entry, billing, and ticket-management systems.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and adapt to shifting priorities.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to synthesize information into clear summaries.
• Team-oriented with excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Independently conducts legal and business research, analyzes results, and provides concise summaries to requestors.
• Uses AI-enabled research tools, develops prompts, reviews AI output, and validates results against sources.
• Receives and clarifies research requests, defines scope, timing, and results.
• Advises on selection and use of research resources.
• Provides resource training and guidance.

• Evaluates new resources and their potential value to the firm.

We have the opportunity for an experienced Research Analyst to join the firm’s Research & Knowledge Management department. This is a collaborative role supporting the firm’s attorneys and business professionals with legal and business research. This position is on a team of Research Services professionals and reports to the Director of Research & Knowledge Management.

Note: This position can be fully remote and is open to candidates located in San Diego, Phoenix, Denver, or elsewhere. Regardless of location, the expected work schedule for this position is 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Pacific Time.

Responsibilities:

• Independently conducts legal and business research of varying complexity, analyzes and synthesizes results, and provides clear, concise summaries of findings to requestors
• Uses AI-enabled research tools and advanced search technologies, as appropriate, to improve research efficiency; develops effective prompts; and reviews and verifies AI-generated output against authoritative sources before incorporating the results into work product
• Receives and clarifies research requests from attorneys and business professionals, identifies appropriate research approaches, and communicates regarding scope, timing, and results
• Advises attorneys and business professionals on the selection and effective use of research resources
• Provides research resource training and point-of-need guidance
• Records research requests in the department’s ticket management system and billable research time in the firm’s time entry system in accordance with firm guidelines
• Contributes to Research Services communications initiatives highlighting resources, services, and capabilities
• Participates in evaluating new and updated research resources and provides feedback regarding their potential value to the firm
• Participates in collaborative Research Services and department meetings and contributes to team discussions and knowledge sharing
• Identifies and implements process improvements related to the position's responsibilities
• Maintains current knowledge of available and existing research tools applicable to the position's responsibilities, as well as developments in research concepts, techniques, and methods
• Participates in professional development through internal and external training and involvement in professional associations
• Maintains strict confidentiality of firm matters
• Models qualities and performance expected of firm employees, including attendance, professionalism, engagement, responsiveness, and high-quality work product
• Uses resources in compliance with firm policies and licensing requirements

• Demonstrated ability to effectively use AI-enabled tools in legal or business research, including prompt development, output evaluation, and validation of results against authoritative sources
• Familiarity with time-entry, billing, and ticket-management systems
• Ability to work independently, manage and prioritize multiple projects, and adapt to shifting priorities in a dynamic environment
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to evaluate research results and synthesize relevant information into clear, concise summaries
• Team mindset and excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, with a focus on responsive, high-quality service
  

Quarles & Brady offers competitive salaries, bonus and great benefits to employees including paid time off, health, vision, dental, 401k, life, disability and much more. Benefit eligibility is dependent on hours. Compensation is determined upon the market in which the position is located, the responsibilities of the position, the experience, education and skills of the applicant, and other job-related factors. The range for this position for individuals physically located in San Diego is $89,000 to $112,000 annually. The range for this position for individuals physically located in Denver $81,000 to $100,000 annually.
