Job Title and Department

Research Aide and Interviewer – EHE | Crane Center for Early Childhood

Responsibilities
  • Assist with all project aspects related to material preparation, data collection (in-person, phone, email, and/or Zoom), data entry, coding, processing, and cleaning.
  • Facilitate collection of data including child direct assessments and verify the completeness and accuracy of assessment paperwork.
  • Travel to conduct data collection activities within homes in the assigned project area on a regular basis.
  • Schedule work flexibly to meet families’ needs, including early mornings, evenings, and occasional weekends.
  • Depending on workload: 80% of the time on data collection duties and 20% on project‑management duties (e.g., updating participant tracking materials, data processing, and responding to project needs).
  • Other duties as assigned.
Required Experience
  • Minimum Education: High School Diploma or GED (0 years of relevant experience required).
  • Experience working with children of diverse backgrounds.
  • Knowledge of educational assessments.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of desktop computing.
  • Reliable transportation and willingness to travel for field work.
  • Successful completion of an FBI/BCI background check to work with preschool children.
Desired Experience
  • Education Desired: Bachelor’s Level Degree or equivalent in Social Sciences (1 year of relevant experience).
  • Experience conducting home visits.
  • Experience conducting child language assessments with children aged 2 to 9 years.
  • In the first 60–90 days of employment: perform high‑quality work through proactive decision‑making, commitment to quality, creativity, and thoughtful analysis; develop an understanding of college and department policies; establish relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners; work independently and collaboratively while fostering team engagement.
Other Requirements

Travel to homes is required; schedules may extend beyond standard 9:00 am–5:00 pm hours, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends as needed.

Compensation

The Target Hiring Range for this position is $15.15/hr – $19.79/hr.

Employment Details

Location: Schoenbaum Family Center (0933). Position Type: Term (Fixed Term). Scheduled Hours: 40 per week. Shift: Varying shifts.
