Job summary

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln is seeking part-time, on-call Early Childhood Data Collectors to support the Nebraska Center for Research on Children, Youth, Families and Schools. You will travel to Lincoln area schools, administer parent questionnaires and standardized assessments for children aged 3–6, and help maintain study reliability.

Responsibilities include coordinating field schedules, participating in data management tasks, and documenting procedures.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree with coursework in psychology, education, or child development.
• At least six months’ experience with young children (ages 3–6).
• Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and video recording.
• Flexibility to work 10–40 hours per week across weekdays or weekends.
• Detail‑oriented, organized, able to work independently.
• Valid driver’s license and approved to drive on University business.

Responsibilities

Working Title: Early Childhood Data Collector (Part-Time: On-Call)

Department: NE Ctr Research on Youth, Fam & School-4425

Part‑time, on‑call data collectors needed to help fulfill many research functions in the Nebraska Center for Research on Children, Youth, Families and Schools at the University of Nebraska – Lincoln.

Responsibilities

Field‑based Data Collection and Professional Representation

• Travel to schools across Lincoln and rural areas of Nebraska.
• Serve as the face of the research team in the field, coordinating schedules, conducting assessments, and upholding confidentiality and professional standards.

Administering Assessments and Maintaining Reliability

• Conduct questionnaires with parents and administer standardized assessments to young children (ages 3–6).
• Complete training to achieve and maintain reliability on all assessment measures.

Supporting Logistics and Data Management

• Assist with scheduling assessments, scoring, checking data, and coordinating with other data collectors.
• Contribute to data management tasks and ensure accurate documentation.

Minimum Required Qualifications

• Associate’s degree with some coursework in psychology, education, child development or related field and at least six months’ experience working with young children (ages 3‑6 years); additional relevant experience may substitute for education on a year‑for‑year basis.
• Experience with Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel, and video‑recording equipment.
• Flexible availability during weekdays (7 am–8 pm) and/or weekends. Must be available to work a minimum of 10 hours up to 40 hours during these times.
• Detail‑oriented, highly organized, able to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Dependable transportation.
• Familiarity with basic technology (e.g., iPad, video‑recording equipment).
• Valid driver’s license and approved to drive on University business.

Preferred Qualifications

• A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in psychology, education, child development or related field.
• One year of research experience, including assessment administration, classroom observations, scoring, or data entry.
• Preschool classroom experience.
• Knowledge of development in young children and child assessments.
• Knowledge of working with families.

Posted Salary: $18.00/hr minimum
