Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health seeks a Manager of Research Administration to lead a team handling pre-award and post-award functions for federal and non-federal grants. The role directs budgeting, reporting, and expenditure oversight while collaborating on strategic planning with senior leadership.

The position includes signature authority for the institution and requires strong supervisory skills, regulatory knowledge, and the ability to mentor staff across research areas.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• 5–8 years of related work experience and 2 years of supervisory/management experience required in a research environment.
• 7 years of research administration experience including supervisory experience may substitute for degree.
• Knowledge of grants management, budget preparation, financial management principles and regulatory requirements.
• Experience with computer systems, including web-based applications and some Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Access).

Responsibilities

• Manages Research Administrators of all levels and/or Grant Specialists, delegates and prioritizes workflow of assigned research area.
• Oversees the submission and monitoring of grant proposals for direct reports, and supports the team as needed.
• Manages a smaller/complex portfolio and budgets for federal and non-federal research grants, contracts and sub-contracts.
• Oversees onboarding of new faculty recruits and off boarding of faculty across the team.
• Collaborates with the RAD to organize annual HMFP salary projection for defined areas of management.
• Provides support to Research Administrative Director and Principal Investigators on special projects.
• Primary oversight auditing of research administrator performance in areas such as effort reports and pre-award management.
• Participates in developing a Research community-wide orientation program and updates information as policies change.
• Direct reports: 2 or 3; handles hiring, termination, corrective action and performance reviews.
