York Building Products is seeking a Purchasing Agent to manage purchasing, logistics and vendor relations. The role supports inventory control across multiple facilities and collaborates with sales, finance, and operations to meet demand and business objectives.

The ideal candidate has at least 3 years of purchasing experience, strong MS Office skills, and a professional communicate style for interactions at all levels within the company and with suppliers.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of purchasing experience.
• Understanding of contracts and legal terms and conditions preferred.
• Advanced level of competency with consumables and manufacturing parts preferred.
• Must have intermediate to above-average Microsoft Office Suite skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
• Must have strong verbal and written communication skills and be able to work with employees, customers and business associates at all levels.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate procurement and replenishment of resale inventory based on forecasts, sales activity, and targets.
• Process inventory and non-inventory orders accurately and timely.
• Create and maintain purchase requisitions and order documentation.
• Communicate with suppliers to request quotes, place orders, and monitor status.
• Coordinate inbound shipments and monitor lead times, backorders, delays, and delivery requirements.
• Maintain data on items, suppliers, pricing, lead times and purchasing within systems.
• Research and resolve shipping discrepancies, invoice variances, and billing errors with suppliers and internal teams.
• Support supplier relationships by monitoring service levels and order accuracy.
• Coordinate with Sales, Finance, operations, and other internal stakeholders to align inventory with demand.
• Assist with pricing reviews, vendor quotations, discounts, and payment-term documentation.
• Prepare and maintain reports related to open orders, inventory availability, supplier performance, and order exceptions.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
