Overview

The Math Coach/Resource Teacher will maintain and monitor the implementation of the mathematics program, including professional development of school personnel. The Math Coach/Resource Teacher is responsible for ensuring the comprehensive instruction of mathematics standards within the school, as well as compliance with Full‑Time Equivalency (FTE) rules and guidelines from the Florida Department of Education and the United States Department of Education.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain and monitor implementation of Hillsborough County Public Schools’ Mathematics Program Guidelines and Procedures, inclusive of county and state guidelines and standards.
  • Assist with the implementation of district initiatives in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics).
  • Demonstrate a strong working knowledge of the Mathematics Florida Standards and best practices in mathematics instruction across content areas; continue to develop professional expertise through readings, trainings, and conferences.
  • Serve as a resource for mathematics-related strategies and materials to increase achievement.
  • Assist teachers in implementing standards across the STEM subject areas and in organizing classrooms and instructional focus for mathematics instruction.
  • Develop and conduct professional development for targeted audiences (classroom teachers) in mathematics instruction, instructional strategies, materials, and topics; model effective teaching techniques; provide follow-up support to district and site-based training.
  • Provide coaching to improve mathematics instruction, classroom organization, and use of district-provided resources; conduct classroom walkthroughs and provide feedback.
  • Train and assist teachers in selecting and using assessment instruments; model administration of assessments and data collection; conduct data conferences to interpret data and plan instruction.
  • Provide small group instruction for selected students and assist with competitions and textbook implementation.
  • Regularly collaborate with building administrators to discuss classroom practices and provide support for mathematics instruction; provide ongoing feedback with the district mathematics supervisor.
  • Assist district supervisors in developing model lesson plans, curriculum, and assessments.
  • Promote parent and community outreach and involvement in the mathematics instructional program at the school.
  • Performs other duties as assigned; responsibilities may evolve with district needs.

Qualifications
  • Experience: Three years of classroom teaching with two years of related management or supervisory experience; Educational Leadership experience preferred.
  • Certificates/Licenses/Registrations: Florida Professional Educator Certificate.

  • Language: Reads, analyzes, and interprets documents; communicates with employees, regulatory agencies, and the public; writes effectively.
  • Mathematical skills: Works with probability, statistics, geometry, trigonometry; applies fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions.
  • Reasoning ability: Solves practical problems with varied instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Computer skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office.
Physical demands
  • Physical activities: Standing, walking, sitting, handling, keyboarding, talking, hearing.
  • Lifting: Up to 10 pounds.
