Representative Payee
Salary Range: $48,000.00 To $55,000.00 Annually
What You'll Do
As the Representative Payee, you'll be responsible for managing Social Security benefits and related financial services for individuals supported by Living Well. Responsibilities include:
- Apply for Social Security benefits and complete required interviews with the Social Security Administration.
- Manage benefit payments and distribute personal needs funds.
- Pay monthly room and board, spenddown amounts, and court-ordered guardianship fees.
- Monitor assets and income to maintain benefit eligibility.
- Complete Housing Support applications and renewals.
- Reconcile representative payee accounts and maintain accurate financial records.
- Partner with Program Managers, guardians, and external agencies to resolve benefit-related issues.
- Report required changes to the Social Security Administration and other benefit agencies.
- Complete annual Representative Payee reports, benefit redeterminations, and disability reviews.
- Conduct annual internal audits to ensure compliance with representative payee requirements.
- Download remittance and surcharge information through MN-ITS.
- Support continuous process improvement and complete other duties as assigned.
What We're Looking For
- Associate's degree in Social Work, Human Services, Psychology, Accounting, or a related field preferred.
- Equivalent experience (2–5 years) in benefits administration, representative payee services, case management, social services, or a related field may be considered in place of a degree.
- Experience working with public benefits programs is highly preferred.
- Experience supporting individuals with disabilities is preferred.

- Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Outlook and Excel.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating across departments.
- High ethical standards, sound judgment, and the ability to maintain confidentiality.

Requirements
- Valid Minnesota driver's license with the ability to meet Living Well's driving eligibility requirements.
- Ability to successfully complete a Minnesota Department of Human Services Background Study.
This position is primarily based in our administrative office, with occasional travel to Living Well locations as needed. The role requires flexibility to meet organizational needs and involves regular use of computers, office equipment, and business software.
