Job summary

Trinity Health Oakland is seeking a Patient Access Rep II for the Emergency Department on the night shift. This full-time, on-site role handles registration, insurance verification, and collection of patient liabilities to ensure eligibility and payment compliance.

You will use multiple hospital systems to generate reports and support performance improvement while delivering high-quality patient service to families and clinicians in a fast-paced setting.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED is required.
• HFMA CRCR or NAHAM CHAA certification within one year of hire.
• Experience with hospital registration or insurance verification is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Register patients and verify insurance in the Emergency Department.
• Collect patient financial liability payments and ensure eligibility for Medicare/other payers.
• Create and distribute analytical reports using hospital systems.
• Utilize multiple system applications to perform analysis and develop educational materials.

We have multiple openings currently, with our full time opening being on Night Shift. (36 hours, 3 12 hour shifts. Approximatley 6pm-6:30am).

We also have a part-time day shift position available as of 9/22, and an open contingent role for coverage on all shifts. Department: Emergency Department Location: Trinity Health Oakland Note: This is a fully on-site role This position may be filled as a Patient Access level I or level II based on the prior work experience and matched qualifications of the selected incumbent.

Position Purpose

Provides patient focused customer service within the Emergency Department. Performs outpatient & / or inpatient registration & insurance verification functions; collects patient financial liability payments & ensures that patients meet financial requirements including Medicare medical necessity, payer pre-certifications & referrals. Provides general information to hospital users, patients, families, and physician offices.

Note: "patients" refers to patients, clients, residents, participants, customers, members

Minimum Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• HFMA CRCR or NAHAM CHAA required within one (1) year of hire.

• Synthesizes & analyzes data & provides detailed summaries including graphical data presentations illustrating trends & recommending practical options or solutions while considering the impact on business strategy & supporting leadership decision making.
• Leverages program & operational data & measurements to define and demonstrate progress, ROI, and impacts.
• Maintains a Working Knowledge of applicable federal, state & local laws / regulations, Trinity Health Integrity & Compliance Program & Code of Conduct, as well as other policies, procedures & guidelines to ensure adherence in a manner that reflects honest, ethical & professional behavior & safe work practices.

Required Qualifications of a Patient Access Rep II

• Minimum of two (2) years of hospital registration or insurance verification experience.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, diagnostic coding, and procedural coding is required.
• Ability to explain insurance benefits.
