Job summary

Trinity Health Oakland seeks a Patient Access Rep II to join the Emergency Department. This on-site role handles outpatient/inpatient registration and insurance verification, collecting patient financial liability and ensuring eligibility with Medicare & payers.

The position is a fully on-site, full-time night shift (36 hours across 3 x 12 hour shifts, roughly 6pm–6:30am). HFMA/NAHAM certification within 1 year; HS diploma required; strong medical terminology & coding knowledge are needed.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED is required.
• HFMA CRCR or NAHAM CHAA certification within one year of hire.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, diagnostic coding and procedural coding.
• Ability to explain insurance benefits.

We also have a part-time day shift position available as of 9/22, and an open contingent role for coverage on all shifts.

Position Purpose:

Provides patient focused customer servicewithin the Emergency Department. Performs outpatient & / or inpatient registration & insurance verification functions; collects patient financial liability payments & ensures that patients meet financial requirements including Medicare medical necessity, payer pre-certifications & referrals. Provides general information to hospital users, patients,families,and physicianoffices.

Required Qualifications of a Patient Access Rep II:

• Minimum of two (2) years of hospital registration or insurance verification experience.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, diagnosticcoding,and proceduralcodingis required.
• Ability to explain insurance benefits.
