The role requires 7+ years in reporting/BI, 5+ years in advanced SQL, and leadership experience. You will mentor staff and collaborate with stakeholders while delivering high‑quality analytics outcomes.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience on complex projects, including 2+ years in a Specialist (Level III) leadership role.
• 7+ years in reporting, BI, or data development.
• 5+ years of advanced SQL development with enterprise relational databases, incl. complex queries, stored procedures, and performance tuning.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, and optimization of enterprise reports and dashboards (Tableau/Power BI/SSRS or similar).
• Write and tune complex SQL queries, procedures, and views for data extraction and analysis.
• Collaborate with business analysts to translate requirements into reporting specs.
• Validate data accuracy and report integrity across dashboards and reports.
• Provide technical leadership, code reviews, and mentoring to junior team members.

Job Title: Report Engineer
Location: Albany, NY (Hybrid)
Duration: 27 Months (with potential for extension)
W2 Hourly Rate: $75–$95/hour

We are seeking a Report Engineer who will support our NYS client. This role will design and maintain enterprise reporting solutions, interactive dashboards, and business intelligence tools for the Integrated Eligibility System (IES) program. The consultant will lead technical reporting development, support data accuracy, and collaborate with business and technical stakeholders.

Duties

• Lead the design, development, and optimization of complex enterprise reports and interactive dashboards using Tableau, Power BI, SSRS, or comparable BI tools.
• Write, optimize, and maintain complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and views to extract and analyze data from relational databases.
• Collaborate with business analysts and stakeholders to translate business needs into technical reporting specifications.
• Validate and test reporting data to ensure accuracy, consistency, and integrity of reports and dashboards.
• Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and code reviews to junior reporting team members.
• Other duties as assigned.

Mandatory Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience working on complex projects, including 2+ years in a leadership role as a Specialist (Level III).
• 7+ years of experience in reporting, business intelligence, or data development.
• 5+ years of advanced SQL development experience with enterprise relational databases, including complex queries, stored procedures/functions, and performance tuning.

Desirable Qualifications

• 3+ years of hands‑on PostgreSQL experience, including PL/pgSQL functions, query plan analysis (EXPLAIN/ANALYZE), and indexing strategies.
• 3+ years of experience with AWS data and reporting services, such as Amazon RDS/Aurora PostgreSQL, Amazon QuickSight, AWS Glue, or Amazon Redshift.
• Professional certification in a major BI platform, such as Tableau Desktop Certified Professional or Microsoft Certified: Power BI Data Analyst Associate.
• 3+ years of experience with ETL tools, such as Informatica, SSIS, or Talend.
• 1+ year of experience developing reporting solutions in a public‑sector or government agency environment.
