Job summary

System One IT is staffing a 12-month+ contract opening for a lead-level Business Intelligence Reporting Engineer to support a state healthcare program. Location is Albany, NY with a hybrid work model—remote with periodic on-site meetings.

Compensation is $90/hr on a W2 basis; benefits available. Responsibilities include designing and maintaining enterprise BI reports and dashboards, leading reporting initiatives, optimizing SQL queries, and collaborating with analysts to translate business needs

Qualifications

• 7+ years in BI reporting and data development.
• 5 years advanced SQL with enterprise databases and performance tuning.
• 3 years PostgreSQL with PL/pgSQL and EXPLAIN/ANALYZE.
• 3 years AWS data and reporting services (RDS/Aurora, QuickSight, Redshift).
• BI platform certification desired (e.g., Tableau Desktop, Power BI).
• 3 years experience with Informatica, SSIS, or Talend; public sector experience desired.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain enterprise reporting solutions and BI dashboards.
• Lead design and optimization of complex reports and interactive dashboards.
• Write and optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, and views.

Job Title: Lead Business Intelligence Reporting Engineer
Location: Albany, NY
Type: Contract

System One IT is staffing a 12-month+ contract opening for a lead-level Business Intelligence Reporting Engineer to support a state healthcare program.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain enterprise-level reporting solutions, data visualizations, and business intelligence (BI) dashboards.
• Lead the design, development, and optimization of complex enterprise reports and interactive dashboards using BI tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, or SSRS).
• Write, optimize, and maintain complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and views to extract data from various relational databases.
• Collaborate with business analysts and stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical reporting specifications.
• Perform data validation and testing to ensure the accuracy and integrity of all generated reports.
• Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and code reviews for junior reporting team members.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Level III — More than seven (7) years of experience working on complex projects with 2 or more years in a leadership role as a Specialist.
• More than seven (7) years of experience in reporting, business intelligence, or data development.
• Five (5) years of advanced SQL development experience with enterprise relational databases, including writing complex queries, stored procedures/functions, and performance tuning.
• Three (3) years of hands‑on experience with PostgreSQL, including PL/pgSQL functions, query plan analysis (EXPLAIN/ANALYZE), and indexing strategies.
• Three (3) years of experience with AWS data and reporting services (e.g., Amazon RDS/Aurora PostgreSQL, Amazon QuickSight, AWS Glue, Amazon Redshift).
• Professional certification in a major BI platform (e.g., Tableau Desktop Certified Professional, Microsoft Certified: Power BI Data Analyst Associate) — desired.
• Three (3) years of experience with ETL tools such as Informatica, SSIS, or Talend — desired.Prior experience working on reporting solutions within a public sector or government agency environment — desired.
