Cloud and Things is seeking a Senior Java Developer to support the NYS Integrated Eligibility System modernization in Albany, NY. This role involves designing scalable Java applications within Agile teams and collaborating with architects, analysts, and testers to deliver reliable solutions.

Requirements include 7+ years in Java/J2EE, Spring, and ORM (Hibernate/JPA), plus 2+ years in a leadership role. Experience with microservices, RESTful APIs, and cloud tools (AWS/Azure/GCP) is preferred.

• 7+ years of experience on complex projects, including 2+ years in a leadership role as a Developer (Level III).
• 7+ years of experience as a Java Developer, including Java/J2EE, OOP, design patterns, and SOLID principles.
• 7+ years of experience with Spring frameworks (Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Security) and ORM technologies such as Hibernate or JPA.

Job Title: Senior Java Developer

Location: Albany, NY (Hybrid)

Duration: 27 Months (with potential for extension)

W2 Hourly Rate: $70–$85/hour

Overview

We are seeking a Senior Java Developer who will support our NYS client on the Integrated Eligibility System (IES) modernization program. This role develops and enhances scalable Java applications supporting critical health and human services programs, including Medicaid, SNAP, Public Assistance, and Child Support. The developer will collaborate with architects, technical leads, business analysts, and testers to deliver reliable solutions aligned with state and federal standards.

Duties

• Design, develop, and implement complex, high-volume, low-latency enterprise Java applications.

Mandatory Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience working on complex projects, including 2+ years in a leadership role as a Developer (Level III).
• 7+ years of experience as a Java Developer, including Java/J2EE, object-oriented programming (OOP), design patterns, and SOLID principles.
• 7+ experience with Spring frameworks (Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Security) and ORM technologies such as Hibernate or JPA.

Desirable Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience designing, building, and maintaining microservices architectures and RESTful APIs.
• 7+ years of experience with testing frameworks such as JUnit and Mockito and build tools such as Maven or Gradle.
• 7+years of experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP, including Docker and Kubernetes containerization.
• 7+ years of experience with DevOps principles and CI/CD tools such as Jenkins.
• 2+ years of experience in a federal or state government setting; Health and Human Services and Integrated Eligibility System programs (PA, TA, SNAP, HEAP, Fair Hearings, Child Support) preferred.
• 7+years of experience with relational databases such as Oracle and PostgreSQL, SQL, and NoSQL databases.
