Job summary

RDO Equipment Co. in Riverside, CA is seeking a Rental Triage Technician to be the first line of service for returned rental equipment, inspecting condition, identifying service and safety needs, and completing quality repairs to ensure fast turnaround.

If you have strong mechanical experience and a sense of urgency, you will document condition, manage work orders, and help keep our rental fleet ready for the next customer.

Qualifications

• Relevant mechanical experience: previous repair and troubleshooting experience with construction, rental, or similar heavy equipment is required.
• Strong diagnostic and repair skills: working knowledge of equipment operation, maintenance, diagnostics, mechanical repair, and trade-specific tooling.
• Ability to work independently: prioritize changing work demands, diagnose service issues, and complete maintenance and repairs safely and efficiently.
• Accurate documentation and communication: strong computer, organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Technical training preferred: diesel, heavy equipment, automotive, or related technical training or certification is preferred.
• Valid work authorization: Candidates must have valid work authorization and be able to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Inspect and triage returning rental equipment: identify damage, maintenance needs, service issues, and safety concerns.
• Document equipment condition and repairs accurately: complete condition reports and open, update, and close work orders with clear details on findings, repairs, parts, and fluids used.
• Direct equipment through the appropriate repair path: coordinate movement between the yard, service shop, wash rack, ready line, and delivery staging areas.
• Complete quality maintenance and repairs: prioritize work based on safety, operational needs, and fleet readiness, then verify equipment is safe and operational before returning it to service.
• Support rental fleet availability: assist with PDI/RDI processes, damage estimates, customer-service opportunities, and complex repairs when triage workload permits.
