Job summary

Ohio CAT is seeking a hands-on Shop Service Technician to diagnose and repair heavy equipment and aerial lifts across Ohio’s construction and power equipment fleet. You will work with customers and teammates to keep machines running efficiently and safely in a dynamic shop environment.

The role emphasizes mechanical and electrical knowledge, the ability to read service bulletins, and strong communication while maintaining accurate records.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent; technical training preferred.
• Experience: Prior experience in construction or power equipment service and repair.
• Skills: strong mechanical aptitude, read manuals, communicate well.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair heavy equipment, aerial lifts, and allied machinery.
• Troubleshoot drive-train, electrical, and hydraulic systems.

• Diagnose and repair heavy equipment, aerial lifts, and allied machinery
• Troubleshoot drive-train, electrical, and hydraulic systems
• Perform routine maintenance and manufacturer updates
• Maintain accurate service records and communicate effectively with customers and team members

Minimum Skills and Qualifications:

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent (required); technical training or college coursework (preferred)
• Experience: Prior experience in construction or power equipment service and repair
• Skills & Traits:
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and technical service skills
  • Proficiency in DC electrical systems and machine electronics
  • Ability to read and apply technical manuals and service bulletins
  • Self-motivated, organized, and able to work independently
  • Excellent communication and computer skills

Physical Requirements:

Lifting/Carrying 40 lb. Lift/Carry and 50lb pulling. Standing, sitting, and climbing up and down stairs, as well as standing, sitting, and climbing into machines. Dexterity Normal. Repetitive Motions: Frequent movements requiring the use of hands, wrists, and fingers.
