Overview:
This position serves as an outside Rental Representative for RJV Equipment. This role involves handling transactions for customers over the phone and in person. The Rental Representative plays a critical role in ensuring customer satisfaction and maximizing machine utilization within the designated trade area.
Responsibilities:
- Support and build strong relationships with co-workers, including Outside Sales Team and Product Support Staff.
- Build strong relationships with customers, focusing on long-term mutual growth and being a dependable partner.
- Rent equipment or arrange for provision of service to customers.
- Perform daily, weekly, and monthly checks.
- Prepare rental forms and contracts; obtain customer signatures and other required information.
- Maintain daily and monthly contract files.
- Compute charges based on rental or service rates.
- Explain rental fees and provide information about rented items, including basic operation or descriptions.
- Collect deposits or payments, or record credit charges by maintaining customer charge files daily and balancing daily sales receipts.
- Answer phones and receive orders; maintain required phone logs.
- Recommend items to customers that meet their needs, discussing customer needs and suggesting suitable and safe equipment for their applications.
- Promote add-on rental equipment for appropriate applications and act as a resource for information on related equipment and services available in the local market area.
- Discuss delivery conditions such as dock heights and narrow streets; notify customers immediately of any delivery delays.
- Achieve rental operational goals, including invoice accuracy, and complete assigned training benchmarks.
- Reserve items for requested times and maintain a rental reservation list.
- Update and call overdue list daily; alert supervisor of overdue contracts.
- Resolve customer problems and invoicing issues.
- Stay current on competitive pricing and market trends.
- Adhere to all company policies, procedures, rules, and regulations, both written and verbal.
- Comply with government safety requirements, store security, and report safety violations to supervisors.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma required; college degree preferred.
- 5 years of rental experience preferred; relevant knowledge and work experience will be considered.
- Positive, solutions-oriented mindset with strong time management and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work effectively with all employee levels, management, and customers in a professional manner.
- Knowledge of equipment, basic mechanics, and local market preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and in-house computer systems (training provided).
- Ability to understand and communicate equipment applications and specifications effectively.
- Strong problem-solving and creativity skills.
- Understanding of rental equipment usage and application.
- Ability to differentiate similar products and understand their advantages and disadvantages.
- Knowledge of construction phases for advising on applications.
- Strong sales and customer relations skills; excellent oral and written communication.

Working Conditions:
- Primarily outside sales environment with exposure to heat, cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions.
- Must be physically present on job sites.
- Use of personal protective equipment required to prevent injury or exposure to hazardous materials.
- Physical activities include standing, stooping, squatting, pushing, pulling, twisting, turning, and lifting.
