Job description

Overview:

This position serves as an outside Rental Representative for RJV Equipment. This role involves handling transactions for customers over the phone and in person. The Rental Representative plays a critical role in ensuring customer satisfaction and maximizing machine utilization within the designated trade area.

Responsibilities:

  1. Support and build strong relationships with co-workers, including Outside Sales Team and Product Support Staff.
  2. Build strong relationships with customers, focusing on long-term mutual growth and being a dependable partner.
  3. Rent equipment or arrange for provision of service to customers.
  4. Perform daily, weekly, and monthly checks.
  5. Prepare rental forms and contracts; obtain customer signatures and other required information.
  6. Maintain daily and monthly contract files.
  7. Compute charges based on rental or service rates.
  8. Explain rental fees and provide information about rented items, including basic operation or descriptions.
  9. Collect deposits or payments, or record credit charges by maintaining customer charge files daily and balancing daily sales receipts.
  10. Answer phones and receive orders; maintain required phone logs.
  11. Recommend items to customers that meet their needs, discussing customer needs and suggesting suitable and safe equipment for their applications.
  12. Promote add-on rental equipment for appropriate applications and act as a resource for information on related equipment and services available in the local market area.
  13. Discuss delivery conditions such as dock heights and narrow streets; notify customers immediately of any delivery delays.
  14. Achieve rental operational goals, including invoice accuracy, and complete assigned training benchmarks.
  15. Reserve items for requested times and maintain a rental reservation list.
  16. Update and call overdue list daily; alert supervisor of overdue contracts.
  17. Resolve customer problems and invoicing issues.
  18. Stay current on competitive pricing and market trends.
  19. Adhere to all company policies, procedures, rules, and regulations, both written and verbal.
  20. Comply with government safety requirements, store security, and report safety violations to supervisors.

Qualifications:

  1. High school diploma required; college degree preferred.
  2. 5 years of rental experience preferred; relevant knowledge and work experience will be considered.
  3. Positive, solutions-oriented mindset with strong time management and organizational skills.
  4. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  5. Ability to work effectively with all employee levels, management, and customers in a professional manner.
  6. Knowledge of equipment, basic mechanics, and local market preferred.
  7. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and in-house computer systems (training provided).
  8. Ability to understand and communicate equipment applications and specifications effectively.
  9. Strong problem-solving and creativity skills.
  10. Understanding of rental equipment usage and application.
  11. Ability to differentiate similar products and understand their advantages and disadvantages.
  12. Knowledge of construction phases for advising on applications.
  13. Strong sales and customer relations skills; excellent oral and written communication.
  14. High energy, self-motivated, with a strong work ethic.
  15. Unwavering commitment to service excellence.

Working Conditions:

  1. Primarily outside sales environment with exposure to heat, cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions.
  2. Must be physically present on job sites.
  3. Use of personal protective equipment required to prevent injury or exposure to hazardous materials.
  4. Physical activities include standing, stooping, squatting, pushing, pulling, twisting, turning, and lifting.
  5. Reading, writing, and using technology to complete responsibilities.
