Job summary

Thompson Machinery is seeking a Rental General Mechanic to diagnose, service and repair Cat and other rental equipment in Middle Tennessee and North Mississippi. You will work largely independently under supervision, reporting to the Rental Store Manager or Service Manager and serving customers at the Rental Store.

Qualified technicians have 2+ years of hands-on equipment experience, diesel engine training, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• Gas and diesel engine, construction equipment and/or truck engine training or relevant military experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Two or more years of hands-on equipment/engine experience with rental equipment.
• Must communicate via email and use basic software (Outlook, Word, Excel).

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, service, repair, and prepare rental equipment including Cat and other brands.
• Read and interpret technical manuals, policies, and procedures.
• Work with mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical schematics and test equipment.
• Provide safe, timely service and maximize value of work performed.
• Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license; CDL may be required for some roles.
