Job summary

EDP Renewables North America is seeking a Construction Technical Project Engineer to oversee utility-scale renewable energy projects in the Houston area. You will work under a Construction Project Manager to ensure schedule, cost, safety, and quality targets are met while proactively communicating risks to stakeholders.

The role involves developing execution plans, budgets, and schedules, coordinating with vendors, and supporting finance with project economics. Travel up to 25-50% is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
• 1–3 years in energy project management or related field.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and MS Project.
• Knowledge of construction management, procurement, and supply chain.
• Ability to interpret AutoCAD, GIS, and other design documents.
• Experience with budgeting, scheduling, and risk management.

Responsibilities

• Support preliminary engineering specifications for construction and contracts.
• Develop detailed project management plans, budgets, and schedules.
• Review vendors and suppliers for project compliance.
• Coordinate scheduling and budgeting with Project Controls.
• Assist finance with due diligence and economic models.
• Perform variance analysis for risks, costs, and timelines.
• Maintain contracts and ensure compliance with requirements.
• Develop tools for real-time tracking of progress (e.g., ProCore, SQL, Power BI).
• Support field team with problem solving and constructability issues.
• Foster relationships with contractors, suppliers, and colleagues.
• Promote safety and support site construction teams.
• Identify continuous improvement opportunities.
