Job summary

UL Solutions in Chicago is seeking a Renewables Intern to join our Renewable Energy Advisory and Independent Engineering teams. You will support wind or solar energy projects, learn pre-construction resource assessments, energy yield modeling, and due diligence tasks under seasoned engineers.

This 10–12 week internship offers hands-on project work, exposure to financial modeling and QA/QC activities, with an hourly rate of $23.00–$25.00 and potential sign-on housing/travel support.

Qualifications

• Pursuing bachelor’s (rising senior) or master’s in engineering or related field.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and organizational skills.
• Familiarity with power systems or electrical fundamentals is a plus.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; exposure to financial models is a plus.
• Experience with programming languages such as Python or R is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support Wind and Solar advisory teams with data analysis and project support.
• Assist technical due diligence reviews and review of EPC/O&M contracts and PPAs.
• Develop energy yield estimates and bankability analyses for wind/solar projects.
• Prepare sections of Independent Engineering reports and QA/QC logs under supervision.
• Support site inspections and data management for renewable energy projects.
