Job summary

Xcel Energy is seeking an analytical intern for the Renewable Operations Center to support real-time operations and analytics. You will help build dashboards, perform trend analyses, and contribute to data-driven maintenance and optimization across the renewable fleet.

The role pairs with ROC Operators and Analytics, offering exposure to SCADA systems, data processing, and cross-functional collaboration. This internship runs with a May 31, 2027 start date and offers hybrid in-person work.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled student, Junior or higher (as of Fall 2027)
• Able to work full-time during the summer (up to 40 hours a week) and part-time during the school year (up to 20 hours a week)
• Hybrid work policy: commuting to the designated work location in-person
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to learn Excel, Python, Java, VBA, SQL, R, PowerBI, and renewable plant SCADA Systems

Responsibilities

• Support daily operational morning reporting for on-site teams and ROC personnel.
• Perform quantitative and trend-based analyses to enable proactive work management.
• Contribute to design and enhancement of dashboards for performance trends and risks.
• Assist in developing and maintaining databases for scalable analytics.
• Collaborate with operators, analysts, IT, and engineering to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
• Support regulatory and operational metric reporting and data collection for reviews.
