Job summary

BCG Attorney Search seeks a motivated mid-level tax associate to join its Tax practice in Irvine, CA, focusing on renewable energy transactions and ITC/PTC monetization structures. You will handle sophisticated deals in wind, solar, battery storage, and related assets.

The role requires strong drafting, negotiation, and client service skills, plus 5+ years of tax experience at a law firm and a JD from an accredited school. California admission or eligibility to waive in is expected.

Qualifications

• JD from an accredited law school with strong academic credentials.
• 5+ years of relevant tax experience at a law firm.
• Experience with renewable energy tax credits and complex transactional tax matters.
• Familiarity with ITCs/PTCs and current IRS guidance.
• Experience drafting and negotiating transaction documents.
• Strong analytical and technical tax expertise.
• Excellent drafting, negotiation, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple transactions and meet deadlines.
• Collaborative mindset and strong client-service orientation.
• Admission to practice law in California (or eligible to waive in).

Responsibilities

• Advise clients on federal income tax aspects of renewable energy transactions, including ITC/PTC qualification, structuring, and compliance.
• Counsel sponsors, investors, and lenders on tax credit transferability, direct pay, and credit monetization strategies.
• Analyze and apply provisions of the Internal Revenue Code and Treasury Regulations.
• Draft and negotiate transaction documents.
• Advise tax equity investors and project development lenders on state and local taxes applicable to renewable energy projects.
• Advise on M&A transactions.
