Job summary

BCG Attorney Search is seeking a highly motivated mid-level tax associate to counsel in Chicago, IL, focusing on renewable energy transactions and ITC/PTC monetization. The role involves advising sponsors, investors, and lenders on complex tax credits and structuring for wind, solar, and other energy transition projects.

The candidate should have a JD from an accredited law school, 5+ years of tax experience at a law firm, and strong drafting and negotiation skills to handle sophisticated tax

Qualifications

• JD from an accredited law school with strong academic credentials.
• 5+ years of relevant tax experience at a law firm.
• Experience with renewable energy tax credits and complex transactional tax matters.
• Familiarity with ITCs/PTCs and current IRS guidance.
• Proven drafting and negotiating transaction documents.
• Strong analytical and technical tax expertise.
• Admission to practice law in the relevant jurisdiction.

Responsibilities

• Advise clients on federal income tax aspects of renewable energy transactions, including ITC/PTC qualification, structuring, and compliance.
• Counsel sponsors, investors, and lenders on tax credit transferability, direct pay, and credit monetization strategies.
• Analyze and apply complex provisions of the Internal Revenue Code and Treasury Regulations.
• Draft and negotiate transaction documents related to tax credits and investments.
• Advise tax equity investors and project development lenders on state and local taxes.
• Provide guidance on M&A transactions.
