Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Project Manager to lead renewable energy projects (solar and wind) from feasibility to handover, based in Welkom, Free State, with a hybrid work model. You will coordinate multidisciplinary teams, manage budgets and timelines, and ensure compliance with HSE and regulatory requirements to deliver high-quality projects.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field, 6+ years in project management for energy projects, experience with grid

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field.
• 6+ years of project management experience in renewable energy (solar/wind).
• Experience from conception through commissioning.
• Strong knowledge of renewable energy tech, grid connection processes, and energy markets.
• Familiarity with environmental regulations and permitting in SA.
• Excellent leadership, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
• Proficiency with project management software (MS Project, Primavera P6).
• Experience in the Free State or similar environments is advantageous.
• PMP or equivalent certification is highly desirable.
• Ability to work in a hybrid work model.

Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end lifecycle of renewable energy projects (solar, wind).
• Conduct feasibility studies, site assessments, and environmental analyses.
• Develop detailed project plans: scope, timelines, budgets, resources.
• Oversee EPC phases, ensuring adherence to design and quality standards.
• Manage risks, issues, dependencies, and mitigation strategies.
• Coordinate with regulatory bodies, permitting agencies, and local authorities.
• Lead and motivate project teams, fostering collaboration and high performance.
• Manage contractor and supplier performance per contracts.
• Ensure strict adherence to health, safety, and environmental standards.
• Monitor progress, track KPIs, and report status to senior management.
