Job summary

Bear Construction is seeking a Project Engineer (PE) in our Renewable Energy Division to support the project management team and drive execution on renewable energy projects by maintaining strong project controls, documentation, and coordination.

This role reviews and helps resolve construction-related issues with the architect/engineer, owner, subcontractors, and vendors, and manages key documentation including submittals, RFIs, and meeting minutes.

Qualifications

• Construction experience or experience in a similar field.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and stay organized.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Commitment to quality and attention to detail.
• Familiarity with renewable project workflows (utility-scale, community solar, rooftop PV).

Responsibilities

• Support the project management team with day-to-day project coordination and execution.
• Review, analyze, and help resolve construction-related issues and discrepancies with the architect/engineer, owner, subcontractors, and vendors.
• Manage and organize construction documentation including submittals, RFIs, and meeting minutes.
• Monitor compliance to codes, QA/QC policies, performance standards, and policies.
• Coordinate permits and inspections with local jurisdictions.
• Assist in development of bid packages, scopes of work, schedules, and site utilization programs.
• Drive and support project goals as a core member of a dedicated team.
• Support field+PM teams with renewable energy workflow coordination across civil, racking, mechanical, and electrical scopes.
• Track and organize solar project logs (submittal log, RFI log, change log, delivery log, closeout documentation).
• Assist with QA/QC documentation and verification packages (photos, checklists, inspections, punch items).
• Help compile turnover/closeout materials (O&M binders, warranties, as-builts, training confirmations).
• Coordinate utility/third-party touchpoints (inspections, testing documentation, commissioning readiness).
