Job summary

BEARConstruction's Renewable Energy Division seeks an Assistant Project Manager (APM) to support the Project Manager and project team in planning and executing solar construction projects. The role drives day-to-day coordination, documentation, permitting and inspections, schedule tracking, procurement/logistics, and closeout while learning BEAR’s software programs and systems.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of industry experience as Project Engineer or similar role.
  • Construction experience or in a similar field.
  • Preconstruction and estimating experience.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • Ability to problem-solve and seek solutions to conflicts.
  • OSHA safety trained or basic understanding of construction safety.
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Outlook, Word).
  • Experience with construction management software; ability to learn quickly in fast-paced environments.
  • Ability to create, monitor, and implement project schedules using scheduling software (e.g., P6, MS Project).
  • Experience supporting solar or renewable energy projects (community solar, utility-scale, or rooftop PV).
  • Familiarity with BEAR solar recruiting tools referenced (Procore/Smartsheet/Excel).
  • Understanding of solar safety considerations (PPE expectations and rooftop PV setback requirements).

Responsibilities

  • Learn and utilize applicable company software programs and project management systems.
  • Coordinate inspections and support permitting processes from initial approvals through project closeout.
  • Prepare and monitor commitment records, contracts, insurance certificates, and bonding documentation.
  • Manage and maintain project submittal and RFI processes.
  • Collaborate with project teams to expedite procurement, materials, equipment, and deliveries.
  • Prepare and distribute meeting agendas, project updates, and minutes.
  • Generate and maintain internal and external project status reports.
  • Coordinate project closeout activities, including punch lists, turnover documentation, and final inspections.
  • Assist with project estimating, budgeting, and preconstruction activities as needed.
  • Support coordination across multiple construction disciplines (civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, commissioning).
  • Maintain organized project records, logs, photographs and documentation for QC, schedule tracking and turnover requirements.
  • Assist Project Managers with project scheduling, look-ahead planning, and schedule maintenance using scheduling software.
  • Support project safety initiatives and ensure compliance with safety requirements.
  • Collaborate with project stakeholders to identify risks, resolve issues, and maintain momentum through all phases of construction.

KeyResponsibilities
