Job summary

BEAR Construction is seeking a Superintendent for Renewable Energy projects in Rolling Meadows, IL. The role focuses on field leadership, safety, quality, schedule execution, documentation, and clear communication with the project team and owners.

The Superintendent will oversee subcontractors across civil, electrical, mechanical, and testing scopes, manage ground-mount solar installations, and ensure adherence to safety and quality standards while coordinating with the PM team and stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a construction Superintendent preferred.
• Field experience or college degree in Construction Management/Engineering preferred.
• Knowledge of local quality, safety, and health guidelines for construction sites.
• Procore and scheduling software awareness.

Responsibilities

• Develop phasing plans and look-aheads schedules with progress updates to the project team.
• Track project progress and maintain schedules regularly.
• Coordinate all construction activities with trade partners and stakeholders to facilitate project completion.
• Own daily field execution and coordinate with the PM team to surface risks and staffing needs.
• Ensure safe, clean, and orderly project site and working environment.
• Maintain project documentation including safety, schedules, RFIs, submittals, and punch lists.
• Coordinate subcontractors and workflow across scopes to maintain quality and pace.
• Manage equipment and material deliveries and site logistics.

TheSuperintendent(RenewableEnergyDivision)isresponsibleformonitoringprojectsthroughtheirfulllifecyclewithastrongfocusonsafety,quality,fieldleadership,scheduleexecution,documentation,andcommunication.Thisroleworkscloselywiththeprojectmanager/projectteamandtheownersteam,andmustbehighlyorganized,proactive,andabletoperforminafast-pacedenvironment.

RenewableEnergyprojectsrequirestrongfieldleadershipacrossmultiplescopesandfast-movingschedules,oftenincluding:

• Oversightofsubcontractorsacrosscivil,electrical,mechanical,andtestingscopes
• Experiencewithground-mountsolarandcommonsystemsincludingfixedtiltandtrackersystems
• Strongdailyfieldexecutionpracticesincludinglook-aheads,dailyreporting,andproactiveissueresolution
• Solar-specificsafetyexposure,includingPPEconsiderationsnotedfor"site-specificwork(i.e.,solar)"andtheneedforhearingprotectionwhererenewableenergymechanismscreatehazards
• HeightenedfocusonfallprotectionrequirementsforrooftopPVenvironmentswhereapplicable(includingrequiredsetbacksanddefinedfallprotectionapproachesnearroofedges)

KeyResponsibilities

• Developphasingplansandlook-aheadscheduleswhilecommunicatingprogressupdatestotheprojectteamandstakeholders.
• Trackprojectprogressandmaintainschedulesonaregularbasis.
• Coordinateallconstructionactivitieswithtradepartnersandstakeholderstofacilitatecompletionoftheproject.
• OwndailyfieldexecutionandcoordinationwiththePMteam;proactivelysurfacerisks,constraints,andstaffing/scheduleneeds.

Safety,Cleanliness&Quality

• Organizeandmaintainsafe,clean,andorderlyprojectsiteandworkingenvironment.
• Enforcesitesafetyrequirementsandensurecompliancewithapplicablesafety/healthstandards.
• Monitorinstalledworkforquality;enforcequalitycontrolplansandcorrectdeficienciesquickly.
• Applysolar-awarePPEpracticesandhazardcontrolswhereworkmayinvolvesolar-specificrisks.

Communication&StakeholderManagement

• ActasaliaisonforBEARandprojectownersonsiteinaprofessionalmanner.
• CollaborateandcommunicateclearlyandconciselywithBEARprojectteam,owners,architect/engineer,tradepartners,subcontractors,andsuppliers.
• Provideclearwrittendocumentationtoallpartiesinvolvedontheproject.

Documentation&Controls(CriticalinRenewableEnergyDelivery)

• Readandunderstandprojectdocumentsincludingdrawings,shopdrawings,specifications,productdatasheets,andschedules.
• Manage,track,anddocumentprojectactivitiesincludingsafety,schedules,dailyreports,tradehours,materialdeliverytracking,RFIs/submittalsstatus,photodocumentation,changedocumentation,andpunchlistitems.
• Utilizeprojectdocumentationtools(experiencewithtoolslikeExcel/Procore/SmartsheethasbeennotedinBEARRenewableEnergysuperintendentscreening).
• Understandtheimportanceofproperaccountingphasecodesandassigningtime.
• Maintainstrongphotodocumentationpractices.

RenewableEnergyFieldExecutionSupport(Multi-scopecoordination)

• Coordinatesubcontractorsandworkflowstomaintainqualityandpaceofworkacrossscopes.
• SupportQC,layout/verification,inspections,andmaterialverificationaspartofdailyexecutionexpectations.

Materials,Equipment,andSiteLogistics

• Manageequipmentandmaterialsasrequired;trackdeliveriesandstaging.
• Coordinateactivitieswithlocalpermitagenciesasneeded.
• Resolveon-siteissuesandemergenciesquicklyandeffectively.

Qualifications

• PreviousexperienceasaconstructionSuperintendentpreferred.
• Fieldexperience,tradeschool,orcollegedegree(ConstructionManagement/Engineeringpreferred).
• Knowledgeoflocalquality,safety,andhealthguidelinesforconstructionjobsites.
• FamiliaritywithMSOfficepreferred;comfortusingdocumentationandcoordinationtools.
• Procoreandschedulingsoftwareawareness.
• Strongorganizationalandtime-managementskills;abilitytoleadandinspire.

• OSHA30
• Preferredsolar-relatedcertificationsnotedinBEARsolarrecruitingincludeNFPA70E,SWPPP,andNABCEPAssociate(preferred).

• Thisisafull-timefieldrolesupportingactiverenewableenergyprojects.
• BEAR'ssuperintendentoffertemplatereferencesstandardfieldhoursasgenerally7:00AM-4:00PM(orasmutuallyagreed),withflexibilityforprojectprioritiesandpotentialadditionalhours/weekends.
