Job summary

Cloudbreak Energy in Boulder, CO is seeking an Accounting Manager to oversee day-to-day accounting as we scale our development and operating portfolio, reporting to the VP of Finance.

You will ensure GAAP-compliant financial records, coordinate audits, and guide the accounting function from the ground up, with hands-on involvement in debt and tax equity financing and revenue recognition.

Qualifications

• CPA certification is required.
• 6+ years of accounting experience, including renewable energy accounting across development and operating assets.
• Experience accounting for assets financed with debt and tax equity.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP with experience supporting external audits.
• Experience in a growth-stage company's accounting function is preferred.
• Hands-on professional who applies policy and prepares reconciliations.
• Excellent organizational, ownership, and attention to detail.
• Strong written and verbal communication to explain accounting concepts.
• Growth mindset and willingness to help build processes.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; public accounting plus industry experience is a plus.
• Boulder-based or willing to relocate strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Accounting Management: manage core accounting functions across Cloudbreak Energy, including the general ledger, month-end and year-end close, accounts payable and receivable, payroll accounting, and the maintenance of accurate books and records prepared in accordance with U.S. GAAP
• External Audit Support: support Cloudbreak's external audit process, serving as a key point of contact for auditors, preparing audit-ready schedules and support, and helping ensure audits are completed accurately and on schedule
• Financial Reporting & Deliverable Coordination: coordinate with external accountants on the preparation of both audited and unaudited financial statements prepared in accordance with U.S. GAAP, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timely delivery
• Renewable Energy & Technical Accounting: apply accounting expertise to Cloudbreak's development and operating assets, helping ensure accounting treatments are accurate, consistent, and prepared in accordance with U.S. GAAP
• Internal Controls & Systems: support the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of internal controls, accounting policies, workflows, and systems
• Financial Reporting & Analysis: deliver timely and accurate internal financial reporting to the VP of Finance and leadership team
• Treasury Support: support cash management, treasury operations, and the reconciliation of project- and corporate-level accounts
• Team Support: support onboarding and mentorship of accounting team members as the team grows
