Removal Defense Immigration Attorney

We are hiring a Removal Defense Immigration Attorney based in either our Austin or San Antonio office. As one of the most active criminal defense and immigration firms in Central Texas, we are on the leading edge of litigation and strive for outstanding results. Candidates may reside in either city but must be willing to travel between Austin and San Antonio on occasion. Role Overview:

As an Immigration Removal Defense Attorney, you will represent clients in removal and deportation proceedings, handling cases involving cancellation of removal, asylum, and bond hearings. You will work with both detained and non-detained clients and contribute significantly to their journey toward justice, mercy, and restoration.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Represent both detained and non-detained clients in immigration removal proceedings, including cases related to cancellation of removal, asylum, and bond hearings.
  • Conduct legal research, draft motions, and engage in courtroom advocacy.
  • Implement department policies and procedures to improve operational efficiency and service quality.
  • Maintain communication with clients from diverse backgrounds, ensuring compassionate and effective representation.
  • Regular travel to jails, immigration courts, and detention centers in Central Texas to support client representation.
Qualifications:
  • Experience: 1-2 years as an immigration attorney focused on removal defense.
  • Education & Licensing: JD degree with an active license to practice law in the U.S., preferably in Texas.
  • Skills: Strong leadership, legal writing, research, and oral advocacy skills, and the ability to manage a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
  • Language: MUST BE BILINGUAL IN ENGLISH AND SPANISH
  • Other Requirements: Valid driver’s license for necessary travel within Central Texas.
Preferred Experience:
  • Any additional experience with family-based immigration (I-130s, adjustment of status, consular processing, I-601A waivers), VAWA, and U-visa cases is highly favorable but not required.
  • SIJS and experience representing unaccompanied minors is highly preferred.
