The State of Michigan’s Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity is seeking a Workplace Safety Representative to review and analyze operations and ensure MIOSH Act compliance. This role involves travel within Eaton and Ingham counties as part of a field team, with a home-based workspace and mandatory safety protocols.

Ideal candidates will have a combination of education and hands-on safety inspection experience, with a willingness to relocate to Michigan if needed.

Qualifications

• Educational level typically required plus one of: one year safety responsibility, one year investigating/inspecting workplaces for compliance, or six years of skilled trade work (two as journey-level).
• Professional level experience in state classified service or related trainee/management roles.
• Bachelor’s degree in any major is acceptable.

Responsabilités

• Review, investigate, and analyze workplace operations, environment, tools, equipment, and processes to ensure MIOSH Act compliance.
• Perform field investigations to assess safety and health risks and recommend corrective actions.
• Support the Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity in promoting safe workplaces across Michigan.
