Job summary

AvonRisk, the nation’s leading specialty risk manager for self-insured organizations, seeks a Claims Director to lead a department of claims supervisors and staff. You’ll coach, monitor performance, ensure compliance with Labor Code provisions and company rules, and drive productivity within budget.

Based in Texas and fully remote, travel to the Austin area about 10% of the time; reports to the Vice President of Claims and shapes strategy, staffing, and training to deliver excellent client

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and eight or more years of progressive claim experience required.
• Experience leading a claims department and supervising teams.
• Knowledge of Labor Code provisions related to workers' compensation.

Responsibilities

• Manage a claims department with supervisors and staff, ensuring quality and throughput.
• Coach, counsel, and provide performance feedback to the team.
• Monitor compliance with applicable statutes and company rules, and implement improvements.
• Maintain department budget and administer expense controls.
• Represent the company at industry functions and develop supervisors as backups.
