Job summary

Cognizant is expanding its Workday Student Practice across Australia and New Zealand. This role leads design and configuration of tuition and fee processes, billing, payments, sponsorships and reconciliations in Workday Student, aligning with university policy and regulatory requirements.

You will work directly with client finance and student services teams to translate higher education finance needs into practical Workday configurations, supported by Cognizant’s global practices and delivery

Qualifications

• Experience in student accounts, student fees, or university finance.
• Understanding of tuition and fee assessment, billing, payments, refunds and reconciliation.
• Familiarity with Commonwealth supported places and HELP loans.
• Knowledge of regulatory context for student fees in Australia or New Zealand (HELP, ESOS, Fees Free).
• Ability to translate policy into structured system design.
• Experience guiding stakeholders through operational and policy decisions.
• Experience with SIS or enterprise finance systems.
• Experience with workshops, documentation, and cross-team collaboration.
• Experience with testing, data conversion, and deployment readiness.

Responsibilities

• Lead discovery and design sessions for tuition and fee assessment, student billing, payments, payment plans, sponsorships, refunds and receivables.
• Configure Student Financials business processes, rules, charge structures, due dates and accounting related requirements.
• Define data, security, reporting and integration requirements, including payment gateways, banking and finance platforms.
• Document requirements, design decisions and configuration.
• Prepare and execute unit testing and end-to-end testing, assist with defect resolution.
• Support data conversion validation, opening balance activities, cutover preparation, training and go-live readiness.
• Provide clear advice on Workday leading practices while recognising institutional context and policy obligations.
• Contribute reusable configuration guidance, test assets and delivery methods to the Cognizant Student Practice.
