Job summary

Canon Recruiting is seeking an experienced Workers’ Compensation Claims Examiner to manage a diverse portfolio of indemnity and litigated claims across CT, MA, RI, NH, and VT. The role emphasizes investigation, settlement opportunities, and timely resolution while maintaining compliance with state statutes.

The ideal candidate has strong negotiation, communication, and organizational skills and can independently manage a high-volume caseload in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of Workers’ Compensation claims handling experience.
• Experience handling indemnity and litigated claims.
• Exposure to CT, MA, RI, NH, and VT jurisdictions.

Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of indemnity and litigated workers’ compensation claims from inception through closure.
• Conduct coverage and compensability investigations.
• Evaluate medical treatment, disability status, return-to-work opportunities, and claim exposure.
• Establish and maintain reserves throughout the life of the claim.
• Coordinate with employers, injured workers, attorneys, medical providers, and vocational professionals.
• Direct and manage defense counsel on litigated matters.
• Negotiate settlements and prepare settlement documentation.
• Ensure compliance with state-specific workers’ compensation statutes and filing requirements.
• Maintain detailed claim documentation and timely diary management.
• Participate in claim reviews and provide recommendations on complex claim strategy.
